Elk Valley PEACE
Elk Valley PEACE (Prevention, Education, Advocacy, Counseling & Empowering children & youth experiencing violence) supports the emotional and psychological needs of children and youth. It provides group and individual services, develops parental awareness of the impacts of witnessing violence and raises community awareness through violence prevention programs.
PEACE is a free program available to children and youth aged 3-18 years residing in the Elk Valley who have experienced or who are experiencing violence in the home and/or a difficult parental separation. This program is funded by Ministry of Public Safety & Solicitor General.

The PEACE Program for Children and Youth experiencing violence started in 1992, when the BC/Yukon Society of Transition Houses (BCSTH) responded to a need for supportive psycho-educational counselling for children and youth with experiences of violence in the home. There are 86 community based programs throughout BC for children and youth that experience violence in the home.
