Elkford Childcare Centre
The Elkford Women’s Task Force Society operates the Elkford Childcare Centre, which is a fully licensed childcare facility located at 816A Michel Road, Elkford, BC. The hours of operation are 6:00am – 5:00pm Monday through Friday excluding statutory holidays and weekends. The Centre is closed the week between Christmas and the New Year, the last week of July, and the first week of August each year. Fees are reviewed annually and are offset by the BC Government Childcare Fee Reduction Program. The Elkford Childcare Centre provides 28 spaces for children 10 months to five years and operates the following programs:
Group Child Care (under 36 months)
1 program with 8 children Group Child Care (30 months – School Age) 1 program with 12 children (can include 2 children 30 - 36 months) Multi-Age Child Care ( 1 year – School Age) 1 program with 8 children (can include 3 children under 36 months |
The programs will provide the following:
- Infant/Toddler care is provided to children aged ten months to three years. Robust programming will meet all five domains and will recognize the diversity of development at this age range. Individual care will be provided at the level best suited to meet the needs of the child.
- Group care is provided for children aged three to school age. Robust programming will meet all five domains of development and will recognize the diversity of development at this age range. Individual care will be provided at the level best suited to meet the needs of the child.
- All care programs meet the standards and objectives as outlined in the BC Early Learning Framework and Childcare Licensing Regulations.
Our team of qualified infant/toddler educators, early childhood educators, and early childhood education assistants provide excellent care and rich programming. Our programming facilitates social, emotional, physical, cognitive, and language development. The Elkford Childcare Centre provides planned activities and free play opportunities that engage the children and allow opportunity for free play and play-based learning, growth, and development. All toys and equipment are accessible to the children, and they choose what they would like to play with. Activities such as a free art table, crafts, baking, cooking, science table, puzzles, games, building centre with a variety of different blocks, kitchen centre, books, puzzles, storytelling, and games are provided for all children. Each program provides daily outside play opportunities for the children. Parents provide snacks and meals for their child, a blanket & comfort toy, indoor footwear, a water bottle, a change of clothing, and appropriate outdoor clothing.
The Elkford Childcare Centre currently maintains a waitlist for care. We recommend submitting a waitlist form as soon as possible as it can take up to 2 years for placement.
